2025 - 2026
PrimeTime Extended Day Program

San Diego Unified School District’s (SDUSD) Extended Learning Opportunities Department is working collaboratively with the PrimeTime Partner Organizations to offer a PrimeTime Program for grades TK-8. The PrimeTime Program will provide an engaging environment where students can strengthen their academic skills and participate in fun enrichment activities within the areas of Art, Science, Music and Athletics, while improving social skills. Students who participate in PrimeTime will be offered a free nutritious snack.

All TK-8 students at the 144 PrimeTime schools are eligible to apply for PrimeTime services. Our goal is to expand PrimeTime services to meet the needs of our community.

Currently under the California Department of Education ELOP Grant, SDUSD is designated as a Rate 2 district. Rate 2 status requires that the students below in grades TK-6 are given priority consideration for enrollment:

  • Homeless/foster youth (highest priority)

  • Low income (eligible for free/reduced meals under LCFF)

  • English Learners

We are excited to share that there is a possibility, pending the Governor’s May Revise, that SDUSD will become a Rate 1 school district. This means we would receive increased funding to expand PrimeTime services districtwide.

Our plan is to expand program access for all interested families, dependent on site capacity and staffing, once we receive the Governor's final ELOP funding allocation.

Your student must be enrolled (or pre-registered) at the same school where you are applying for PrimeTime during the regular school day.

All families interested in participating in PrimeTime are required to submit an application annually. An application must be submitted for each student every school year.

The PrimeTime application process has been streamlined to better support our families. Our new enrollment and attendance platform, Transact, will automatically populate your students’ data from PowerSchool to ensure accurate student information and minimize the number of forms you need to complete.

Please see below for a step-by-step video regarding this new streamlined process.

How to apply for the 2025-26 PrimeTime Extended Day Program using TransAct

All students enrolled and pre-registered for the 2025-26 school year in grades TK-8 at our 144 PrimeTime Elementary, Middle and TK-8 schools who are seeking PrimeTime services, will receive a unique application link via email and text between 6:00-8:00 am PST on April 14, with the link becoming active at 8:00 am PST. The PrimeTime applications will go live starting Monday, April 14 at 8:00 am PST and must be submitted by Friday, May 2 at 9:59 pm PST.  Please contact your school site to ensure your primary email and phone number are updated in PowerSchool before April 14.

This year, PrimeTime is using a lottery-based acceptance system. Please note that it is not first-come, first-served.

Students who meet priority enrollment criteria outlined above will receive priority consideration. After priority placements are made, remaining students will be accepted based on available space and staffing at each site through a randomized lottery.

Parents/guardians who complete and submit the application within the initial application timeline will be notified via email of their application status.

The initial application window for the 2025–26 PrimeTime Application closed on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 9:59 PM PST.

Families who wish to apply after the initial application window will still have an opportunity throughout the school year. To request a unique link for the application, please complete the 2025–26 PrimeTime Application Link Request Form, one for each student. Requests for application links will be sent beginning on June 9, 2025.

Beginning in July, we will hold a lottery for applicants who apply after May 2, 2025.  Lotteries will take place the first Monday of every month. If a Holiday falls on a Monday, the lottery will take place the following work day. This process will provide students an equal opportunity for enrollment.

Students who meet priority enrollment criteria outlined above will receive priority consideration. After priority placements are made, remaining students will be accepted based on available space and staffing at each site through a randomized lottery.
